Pulse diagnosis is an important aspect of Ayurveda.

AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the traditional medical system of India.
Ayurveda means “the science of life” and has
developed over thousands of years in conjunction
with its “sister science” of Yoga, the science of mind.
These highly refined sciences of body, mind and
spirit represent a truly comprehensive healthcare
system. Ayurvedic healthcare involves counseling
in diet and lifestyle, physical and mental exercise
(yoga, relaxation and meditation), herbal remedies
and various treatments using traditional herbally
infused oils.
Both Ayurveda and TCM are based upon the ancient
philosophy of the Five Great Elements. Everything
in the universe is a unique mixture of these primary
qualities of matter. Ayurveda further simplifies the
Five Elements into three primary biological forces
called doshas.
A person’s unique mixture of the
Five Elements is called his/her constitution and is
described in terms of these three doshas. The three
doshas are Vata (primarily the qualities of space and
air); Pitta (primarily the qualities of fire and water);
and Kapha (primarily the qualities of water and
earth). Through the initial intake process on the
first office visit, a person’s constitution is determined
and is used as a primary factor in diagnosis and the
formation and execution of a treatment plan.
